Design Approach: Immersive and experiential landscape
Nestled within a 0.61-acre expanse in Vilayil, Kozhikode, Rooh is a masterclass in biophilic luxury, designed to dissolve the boundaries between a private sanctuary and a high-end tropical resort. The architectural narrative centers on the “reveal”—using lush, layered landscapes and deep overhangs to veil the home in privacy while maintaining a constant dialogue with the outdoors. By prioritizing transparency and open-air transitions, the design allows the site’s natural ecology to lead, creating a residence that doesn’t just sit on the land, but breathes with it.
The program is defined by a “resort-living” philosophy, featuring a versatile array of multipurpose spaces that cater to both high-energy activity and quiet contemplation. At its heart, a serene lap pool is flanked by an integrated outdoor gymnasium, offering a wellness experience that overlooks the water and the verdant canopy. From stone-paved social courtyards to secluded garden nooks with hanging swings, Rooh meticulously balances functionality with an ethereal atmosphere, proving that a home can be both a dynamic hub for modern living and a silent, storied grove.
