Design Approach: Multi-Functional Commercial Terrace Landscape
Vendome is a 785 sqm rooftop outdoor park atop K-Mall in Kakkattil, Kozhikode — a town surrounded by lush greenery yet lacking structured public gathering spaces. Conceived as an act of City Nature, the project transforms an underutilized commercial terrace into a vibrant social landscape, addressing a clear urban gap through intentional design.
Guided by social interaction mapping, the rooftop is organized into spaces for quiet retreat, dynamic interaction, events, and social dining — all connected through barrier-free circulation and layered planting. Rather than recreating an imagined “natural” past, Vendome is a new, functional urban nature designed for how it feels, how it functions, and how it is lived — where some moments are planned, and many emerge organically.
