Design Approach: Multi-Activity Rooftop Social Landscape
Sky-Five is a vibrant rooftop public space developed atop Forum Mall in Edappal — envisioned as an active urban terrace where recreation, gathering, leisure, and everyday social life come together within a layered landscape setting.
Designed as a flexible and people-centric rooftop environment, the project accommodates multiple modes of use simultaneously — from large gatherings and events to casual everyday interactions, children’s play, fitness activities, and quieter seating pockets. The landscape is structured around expansive turf areas that act as open social grounds, supported by activity zones including an outdoor gym, children’s play spaces, dining spill-outs, and seating environments of varying character and scale.
Rather than treating the terrace as a singular event space, the design focuses on creating an adaptable urban commons that remains active throughout the day. The spatial planning encourages movement, pause, visibility, and interaction, allowing the rooftop to constantly shift in mood and occupation depending on time, event, and user group. Planting, lighting, and built elements are carefully integrated to soften the commercial rooftop condition while retaining openness and flexibility. The result is a lively elevated landscape that brings together recreation, community, and urban life — transforming an otherwise unused terrace into a memorable public destination within the town.
